Jonah

 ﴾ 1 ﴿ A (Alif), L (Laam), R (Ra): These (Til'ka) are signs (symbols) (Aayaatu) of the Wise (El'Hakiim) Book (El'Kitaabi).
﴾ 2 ﴿ Is it (A’kaana) amazing (Äjaban) for the people (Lin' Naasi) that (An') We have inspired (Aw'hai'naa) to (ilaa) a man (Rajulin) among them (Min'hum') to (An’) warn (50:2) (Anziri) the people (En'Naasa) and (Wa) give good news (Basshiri) to those who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanuu') that (Anna), they will have (Lahum) a sincere (Sid'qin) present (Qadama) at (Enda) their LORD (Rabbi-him’)? The disbelievers (El'Kaafiruuna) say (Qaala), "Indeed (Inna), this (Haaza) is (La) a clear (Mubiin) sorcerer (Saahirun)."
﴾ 3 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), your LORD (Rabba-kumu) is GOD (Ellahu); the One who (Ellazii) created (Khalaqa) the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) and the earth (Wal' Ar'do) in (Fii) six (Sittati) days (Ayyaamin) and then (Thumma) sat firmly on (Es'tawaa Äla) the Throne (El'Är'shi) and arranges (Yudabbiru) the matter (El'Am'ra). There is no (Maa Min) intercessor (Shafii'in) except (illa) after (Min Ba'di) HIS permission (2:255) (Iz'ni-hi). That is GOD (Zaalikumu-llahu), your LORD (Rabbu-kum); so (Fa) worship HIM (E'buduu-hu). Will you then not (Afalaa) take heed (Tazakkaruun)?
﴾ 4 ﴿ To HIM (ilai'hi) is your return (Mar'jiu-kum) all together (Jamiiän); the promise of GOD (Wa'da-llahi) is true (Haqqan). Indeed, HE (Innahu) initiates (Yab'dau') the creation (El'Khal'qa) and then (Thumma) repeats it (Yueedu-hu) that (Li) HE may reward (Yaj'ziya) those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu') and (Wa) do (Ämilu') good deeds (Es'Soalihaati) in justice (Bil' Qis'ti). As for (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) disbelieved (Kafaru'), they will have (Lahum) a drink (Sharaabun) of (Min') magma (Hamiimin) and a painful (Aliimu) punishment (Äzaabun) for what (Bimaa) they used to (Kaanu') disbelieve (Yak'furuun).
﴾ 5 ﴿ HE (Huwa) is the One who (Ellazii) made (Jaäla) the sun (Es'Shamsa) glow (Diyaa'an), and the moon (Wal' Qamara) as a light (Nuuran) and (Wa) estimated it (Qaddara-hu) in positions (36:39) (Manaazila) so that (Li) you may know (Ta'lamu') the number (Ädada) of years (Es'Siniina) and calculation (17:12) (Wal' Hisaaba). GOD (Ellahu) did not (Maa) create (Khalaqa) these (Zaalika) except (illa) for the truth (Bil' Haqqi). HE explains (Yufassilu) the signs (El'Aayaati) for (Li) people (Qaw'min) who know (Ya'lamuun).
﴾ 6 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), in (Fii) the variation (Ekh'tilaafi) of the night (Ellai'li) and (Wa) the day (En'Nahaari) and whatever (Wamaa) GOD has created (Khalaqa-llahu) in (Fii) the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di) are (La) signs (Aayaatin) for (Li) people (Qaw'min) who are pious (Yattaquun).
﴾ 7 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) hope to (Yar'juuna) meet Us (Liqaa'anaa) and (Wa) are satisfied (Radu') with (Bi) the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati) while (Wa) being assured (Et'ma'annu') by it (Bihaa). They (Hum') are those who (Ellaziina) are heedless (Gaafiluun) of (Än') Our signs (Aayaati-naa).
﴾ 8 ﴿ Those (U'laaika) are the ones whose refuge (Ma'waa-humu) is the Fire (En'Naaru) for what (Bimaa) they have been (Kaanu') earning (Yak'sibuun).
﴾ 9 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu') and (Wa) do (Ämilu') good deeds (Es'Soalihaati), their LORD (Rabbu-hum) will guide them (Yah'dii-him) with (Bi) their faith (iimaani-him). Rivers (El'An'haaru) will flow (Taj'rii) beneath them (Min Tah'ti-him) in (Fii) the Gardens (Jannaati) of Bliss (En'Naeem).
﴾ 10 ﴿ Their invocation (Da'waa-hum) therein (Fiiha) will be, "Glory be to YOU (Sub'haana-ka), O God (Ellahumma)," and (Wa) their greeting (Tahiyyatu-hum) therein (Fiiha) will be, "Peace (Salaamun)," while (Wa) the end (Aakhiru) of their invocation (13:14) (Da'waa-hum’) is (Anni), "Praise (El'Hamdu) be to GOD (Lillahi), LORD (Rabbi) of the worlds (El'Äälamiin)." (End of invocation* - 39:75 / 37:182)
﴾ 11 ﴿ And (Wa) if (Law') GOD should hasten (Yuäjjilu-llahu) evil (Es'Sharra) for the people (Lin' Naasi) as HE hastens to them (Es'ti'jaala-hum Bi) the good (El'Khai'ri), their term (Ajalu-hum) would have been (La) settled (Qudiya) for them (ilai'him); but (Fa) We leave (Nazaru) those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) hope to (Yar'juuna) meet Us (Liqaa'anaa) in (Fii) their transgression (Tug'yaani-him), straying (Ya'mahuun).
﴾ 12 ﴿ And (Wa) whenever (Izaa) adversity (Ed'Durru) touches (Massa) the human being (El' Insaana), he invokes Us (Da'ääna) unto (Li) his side (Janbi-hi) or (Aw') sitting (Qaaedan) or standing (Qaa'iman), but (Fa) when (Lamma) We remove (Kashaf'naa) his adversity (Durra-hu) from him (Än'hu), he passes (Marra) as if (Ka'an) he had not (Lam') invoked Us (Yad'u-naa) for (ilaa) any adversity (Durrin) which touched him (Massa-hu). Thus (Kazaalika) is it adorned (Zuyyina) to the profligates (Lil' Mus'rifiina) what (Maa) they have been (Kaanu') doing (Ya'maluun).
﴾ 13 ﴿ And (Wa) We have certainly (Laqad') annihilated (Ah'lak'naa) generations (El'Quruuna) before you (Min Qab'li-kum) when (Lamma) they transgressed (Zolamu'). Their messengers (Rusuluhum) came to them (Jaa'at'hum) with proofs (Bil' Bayyinaati), but (Wa) they were (Kaanu') not (Maa) to (Li) believe (Yu'minu'). Thus (Kazaalika) did We requite (Naj'zii) the guilty (El'Muj'rimiin) people (El'Qaw'ma).
﴾ 14 ﴿ Then (Thumma) We made you (Jaäl'naa-kum) successors (35:39) (Khalaa'ifa) on earth (Fiil' Ar'di) after them (Min Ba'di-him) that (Li) We may see (Nanzura) how (Kai'fa) you will do (Ta'maluun).
﴾ 15 ﴿ And (Wa) when (Izaa) Our verses (Aayaatu-naa) are recited (Tut'laa) to them (Älai'him) as proofs (Bayyinaat'), those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) hope to (Yar'juuna) meet Us (Liqaa'ana) say (Qaala), "Bring (E'ti Bi) a reading (Qur'aanin) other than (Gai'ri) this (the Koran) (Haazaa) or (Aw') change it (Baddil'hu)." Say (Qul'): "It is (Yakuunu) not (Maa) for me (Lii) to (An') change it (Ubaddila-hu) by (Min) myself (Naf'sii) spontaneously (Tilqaai). I only (In' illa) follow (Attabi'u) what (Maa) is inspired (Yuuhaa) to me (ilayya). Indeed (Innii), I fear (Akhaafu) the punishment (Äzaaba) of a terrible (Äziim) day (Yaw'min), if (In') I should disobey (Äsai'tu) my LORD (Rabbii)."
﴾ 16 ﴿ Say (Qul'): "If (Law') GOD (Ellahu) had willed (Shaa'a), I would not (Maa) have recited it (Talaw'tu-hu) to you (p) (Älai'kum), nor (Walaa) would I inform you (Ad'raa-kum) of it (Bihi), for (Fa) I have (Qad') lingered (Labith'tu) among you (Fiikum) a lifetime (Umuran) before it (Min Qab'li-hi). Will you then not (Afalaa) reason (Ta'qiluun)?"
﴾ 17 ﴿ So who (Faman') is more unjust (Az'lamu) than one who (Mimmani) fabricates (Ef'taraa) falsehood (Kaziban) about GOD (Älaallahi) or (Aw') denies (Kazzaba Bi) HIS verses (Aayaati-hi)? Indeed (Innahu), the criminals (El'Muj'rimuun) will not (Laa) succeed (Yuf'lihu).
﴾ 18 ﴿ And (Wa) they worship (Ya'buduuna) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi) what (Maa) neither (Laa) harms them (Yadurru-hum) nor (Walaa) benefits them (Yanfau-hum), and (Wa) they say (Yaquuluuna), "These (the idols) (Haaulaai) are our intercessors (Shufa'ääu-naa) in front of GOD (Endallahi)." Say (Qul'): "Are you informing GOD (Atunabbiuuna-llaha) of what (Bimaa) HE does not (Laa) know (Ya'lamu) in (Fii) the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) nor (Walaa) on earth (Fiil' Ar'di)?" Glory be to HIM (Sub'haana-hu), for (Wa) HE is exalted (Ta'äälaa) above what (Ämmaa) they associate (idolize) (Yush'rikuun).
﴾ 19 ﴿ And (Wa) mankind (En'Naasu) was (Kaana) only (Maa illaa) one (Waahidatan) nation (Ummatan) and (Fa) they differed (Ekh'talafu'). And (Wa) if not (Law' Laa) a word (Kalimatun) had preceded (Sabaqat') from (Min) your LORD (Rabbi-ka), it would have been (La) settled (Qudiya) between them (Bai'nahum) concerning what (Fiimaa) they disagree (Yakh'talifuun Fiihi).
﴾ 20 ﴿ And (Wa) they say (Yaquuluuna), "Why (Law') has a sign (Aayatun) not (Laa) been revealed to him (Unzila Älai'hi) from (Min) his LORD (Rabbi-hi)?" So (Fa) say (Qul'): "The unseen (El'Gai'bu) is only (Innamaa) for GOD (Lillahi), so (Fa) wait (Entaziruu'); indeed, I am (Innii) among (Mina) those waiting (El'Muntaziriin) with you (Maäkum)."
﴾ 21 ﴿ And (Wa) when (Izaa) We make the people (En'Naasa) taste (-Azaq'na) mercy (Rah'matan) after (Min Ba'di) adversity (Dorraa'a) has touched them (Massat'hum), then (Izaa) they (Lahum) scheme (Mak'run) against (Fii) Our verses (Aayaati-naa). Say (Quli): "The scheme (Mak'ran) of GOD (Ellahu) is swifter (As'rau)." Indeed (Inna), Our messengers (the Angels) (Rusula-naa) are recording (Yak'tubuuna) whatever (Maa) you scheme (Tam'kuruun).
﴾ 22 ﴿ HE (God) (Huwa) is the One who (Ellazii) causes you to travel (Yusayyiru-kum’) on (Fii) land (El'Barri) and sea (Wal' Bah'ri) until (Hattaa) when (Izaa) you are (Kuntum) in (Fii) ships (El'Ful'ki) and (Wa) sailing (Jarai'na) with them (Bihim) by (Bi) a good (Toyyibatin) wind (Riihin) and (Wa) rejoicing (Farihu') at it (Bihaa), there comes (Ja'at'haa) a stormy (Ääsifun) wind (Riihun) and the waves (El'Maw'ju) comes to them (Jaa'a-humu) from (Min) every (Kulli) place (Makaanin) and they presume (Zonnuu') that they (Annahum) have been surrounded (Uhiito Bi-him’). They invoke GOD (Daäwu'llaha) sincerely devoting (Mukh'lisiina) the religion (Ed'Diina) to HIM (Lahu), "Indeed if (La'in') YOU rescue us (Anjai'ta-naa) from (Min') this (Haazihi), we will (La) be (Nakuunanna) among (Mina) the grateful (Es'Shaakiriin)."
﴾ 23 ﴿ But (Fa) when (Lammaa) HE rescues them (Anjaa-hum) then (Izaa) they (Hum') oppress (Yab'guuna) on earth (Fiil' Ar'di) without (Bi-Gai'ri) right (El'Haqqi). O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), your oppression (Bag'yu-kum’) is only (Innamaa) against (Älaa) your souls (Anfusi-kum) in the enjoyment (Mataa'ä) of the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati). Therefore (Thumma) to Us (ilai'naa) is your return (Mar'jiu-kum), then (Fa) We will inform you (Nunabbiu-kum) of what (Bimaa) you have (Kuntum) done (Ta'maluun).
﴾ 24 ﴿ The example (Mathalu) of the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati) is only (Innama) like (Ka) water (Maa'in) which We send down (Anzal'naa-hu) from (Mina) the sky (Es'Samaai) then (Fa) the plants (Nabaatu) of the earth (El'Ar'di) mixes (Ekh'talata) with it (Bihi); from which (Mimmaa) the people (En'Naasu) and livestock (Wal' An'äämu) eat (Ya'kulu) until (Hattaa) when (Izaa) the earth (El'Ar'du) has taken (Akhazati) its decoration (Zukh'rufa-ha) and is beautified (Ez'Zayyanat'), and (Wa) its people (Ah'lu-haa) think (Zonna) that they (Annahum) are in control (Qaadiruuna) over it (Älai'ha), there comes (Ataa-haa) Our command (Am'ru-naa) by night (Lai'lan) or (Aw') by day (Nahaaran), then (Fa) We render it (Jaäl'naa-ha) as a harvest (Hasiidan), as if (Ka'an) it had not (Lam') fertilized (Tag'na) the other day (Bil' Am'si). Thus (Fa) have We explained (Nufassilu) the signs (El'Aayaati) for (Li) people (Qaw'min) who ponder (Yatafakkaruun).
﴾ 25 ﴿ And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) invites (Yad'uu') to (ilaa) the Home (Daari) of Peace (Es'Salaami) and (Wa) guides (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau) to a straight (Mus'taqiim) path (Siraatin).
﴾ 26 ﴿ For those who (Lillaziina) do well (Ah'sanu') is the best (El'Hus'naa) as well as (Wa) extra (Ziyaada'), and no (Walaa) dust (Qatarun) will overtake (Yar'haqu) their faces (Wujuuha-hum) nor (Walaa) humiliation (Zillatun). Those (U'laaika) are the companions (As'haabu) of the Garden (El'Jannati); they (Hum') will be therein (Fiiha) eternally (Khaaliduun).

When (Lammaa) they believed (Aamanu'), We removed (Kashaf'naa) the punishment (Äzaaba) of humiliation (disgrace) (El'Khiz'yi) from them (Än'hum') in (Fii) the worldly (Ed'Dun'ya) life (El'Hayaati) and (Wa) made them enjoy (Matta'naa-hum') for (ilaa) a time (Hiin).
﴾ 99 ﴿ And (Wa) if (Law') your LORD (Rabbu-ka) had willed (Shaa'a), whoever (Man) is on earth (Fiil' Ar'di) would have (La) believed (Aamana); all of them (Kulluhum') entirely (Jamiiään). So would you (s) (Afa'anta) compel (2:256) (Tuk'rihu) the people (En'Naasa) until (Hattaa) they become (Yakuunu') believers (Mu'miniin)?
﴾ 100 ﴿ And (Wa) it is (Kaana) not (Maa) for (Li) a soul (Naf'sin) to (An) believe (Tu'mina) except (illa) by (Bi) the permission of GOD (Iz'ni-llahi). For (Wa) HE places (Yaj'älu) filth (Er'Rij'sa) upon (Älaa) those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) reason (Ya'qiluun). (67:10)
﴾ 101 ﴿ Say (Quli): "Observe (Enzuru') what (Maaza) is in (Fii) the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di), yet (Wa) the signs (El'Aayaatu) and (Wa) the warnings (En'Nuzuru) do not (Maa) avail (Tug'nii Än) a people (Qaw'mi) who do not (Laa) believe (Yu'minuun).“
﴾ 102 ﴿ So (Fa) are (Hal') they waiting (Yantaziruuna) only (illa) like (Mith'la) the days (Ayyaami) of those who (Ellaziina) passed (Khalaw') before them (Min Qab'li-him')? Say (Qul'): "Then (Fa) wait (Entaziruu'); indeed, I am (Innii) with you (Maäkum) among (Mina) those waiting (El'Muntaziriin)."
﴾ 103 ﴿ Therefore (Thumma) We will rescue (Nunajjii) Our messengers (Rusula-naa) and (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) have believed (Aamanu'). Thus (Kazaalika) is it incumbent on Us (Haqqan Älai'naa) to rescue (Nunji) the believers (El'Mu'miniin). (10:47 / 7:35)
﴾ 104 ﴿ Say (Qul'): "O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), if (In) you are (Kuntum') in doubt (Shakkin) of (Min) my religion (Diinii), then (Fa) I do not (Laa) worship (A'budu) those (Ellaziina) you worship (Ta'buduuna) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi); but (Walaakin') I worship GOD (A'budu-llaha), the One who (Ellazii) causes you to die (Yatawaffaa-kum'). And (Wa) I have been commanded (Umir'tu) to (An') be (Akuuna) of (Mina) the believers (El'Mu'miniin).
﴾ 105 ﴿ "And (Wa) that (An') erect (Aqim') your face (Waj'ha-ka) to (Li) the orthodox (true) (Haniifan) religion (Diini) and (Wa) not (Laa) to be (Takuunanna) among (Mina) the polytheists (El'Mush'rikiin).”
﴾ 106 ﴿ And (Wa) do not (Laa) invoke (Tad'u) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi) what (Maa) does not (Laa) benefit you (s) (Yanfau-ka) nor (Walaa) harm you (s) (Yadurru-ka), for (Fa) if (In) you do (Faäl'ta), then (Fa) indeed, you (s) (Innaka) would then (Izan) be among (Mina) transgressors (Ez'Zoalimiin).
﴾ 107 ﴿ And (Wa) if (In) GOD (Ellahu) should touch you (s) (Yam'sas'ka) with (Bi) adversity (Durrin), then (Fa) there is no (Laa) remover (Kaashifa) of it (Lahu) except (illa) HIM (Huwa); and (Wa) if (In) HE intends for you (Yurid'ka Bi) welfare (Khai'rin), then (Fa) there is no (Laa) repeller of (Raadda Li) of HIS favour (Fad'li-hi). HE touches (Yusiibu) whomever (Man) HE wills (Yashaau) among (Min') HIS servants (Ebaadi-hi) with it (Bihi), for (Wa) HE (Huwa) is the FORGIVING (El' Gafuuru), the MERCIFUL (Er' Rahiim).
﴾ 108 ﴿ Say (Qul'): "O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), the truth (43:78) (El'Haqqu) has come to you (p) (Jaa'a-kumu) from (Min) your LORD (Rabbi-kum'); therefore (Fa) whoever (Mani) is guided (Eh'tadaa), thence (Fa) he is only (Innamaa) guided (Yuh'tadii) for (Li) his soul (Naf'si-hi), and (Wa) whoever (Man) is misguided (Dolla), then (Fa) he is only (Innamaa) misguided (Yadillu) against it (himself) (Älai'haa), and (Wa) I am (Ana') not (Maa Bi) your advocate (Wakiil Älai'kum)."
﴾ 109 ﴿ And (Wa) follow (Ettabi') what (Maa) has been inspired (Yuuhaa) to you (s) (ilai'ka) and (Wa) be patient (Es'bir) until (Hattaa) GOD judges (Yah'kuma-llahu). For (Wa) HE (Huwa) is the best (Khai'ru) of judges (El'Haakimiin). (6:106)
