The Pilgrimage

﴾ 1 ﴿ O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), reverence (Ettaqu') your LORD (Rabba-kum’). Indeed (Inna), the earthquake (Zal'zalata) of the Hour (Es'Saa'äti) is a terrible (Äziim) thing (Shai'un).
﴾ 2 ﴿ The day (Yaw'ma) you see it (Taraw'na-ha), every (Kullu) foster mother (Mur'diätin) will be stunned (Taz'halu) from what (Ämmaa) they nurture (Ar'doät), and every (Kullu) pregnant (Ham'lin) being (Zaati) will lose (Tadau) its pregnancy (Ham'la-haa), and (Wa) you will see (Taraa) the people (En'Naasa) intoxicated (Sukaaraa), while (Wa) they (Hum) are not (Maa Bi) intoxicated (4:43) (Sukaaraa), but (Walaakinna) the punishment of GOD (Äzaaba-llahi) is severe (Shadiid).
﴾ 3 ﴿ And (Wa) among (Mina) the people (En'Naasi) are those who (Man) argue (Yujaadilu) about (Fii) GOD (Ellahi) without (Bi-Gai'ri) knowledge (il'min), and (Wa) they follow (Yattabiu) every (Kulla) rebellious (Mariid) devil (Shai'toanin).
﴾ 4 ﴿ It has been decreed to him (the devil) (Kutiba Älai'hi) that (Annahu), "Whoever (Man) turns to him (Tawalla-hu), thence (Fa) he (Annahu) will mislead him (Yudillu-hu) and (Wa) lead him (Yah'dii-hi) to (ilaa) the punishment (Äzaabi) of the Inferno (Es'Saeer)."
﴾ 5 ﴿ O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), if (In) you should be (Kuntum) in (Fii) doubt (Ra'bin) of (Mina) the resurrection (El'Ba'thi), then (Fa) indeed (Inna), We created you (Khalaq'naa-kum) from (Min) dust 1 (Turaabin), then (Thumma) from (Min) sperm 2 (Nut'fatin), then (Thumma) from (Min) a thrombus 3 (Älaqatin), then (Thumma) from (Min') a shaped (Mukhallaqatin) and (Wa) an unshaped (Gai'ri Mukhalaqatin) embryo 4 (Mud'gatin) that (Li) We may clarify (Nubayyina) to you (Lakum). And (Wa) We settle down (Nuqirru) whatever (Maa) We will (Nashaau) in (Fii) the wombs (El'Ar'haami) until (ilaa) a fixed (Musamman) term (Ajalin), then (Thumma) We bring you out (Nukh'riju-kum) as a child 5 (Tif'lan) so (Thumma) that (Li) you may reach (Tab'luguu') your maturity (Ashudda-kum’). And (Wa) among you (Minkum) are those who (Man) are caused to die (Yutawaffaa), and among you (Minkum) are those who (Man) return (Yuraddu) to (ilaa) a rejected (Ar'zali) age (El'Umuri) in order not to (Likai'la) know (Ya'lama) anything (Shai'an) after (Min Ba'di) knowledge (il'min). And (Wa) you see (Taraa) the ground (land) (El'Ar'do) lifeless (Haamidatan), but (Fa) when (Izaa) We send down (Anzal'na) water (El'Maai) upon it (Älai'ha), it trembles (Eh'tazzat), strokes (Rabat’) and (Wa) germinates (Anbatat’) of (Min) every (Kulli) magnificent (beautiful) (Bahiij') kind (Zaw'ji).
﴾ 6 ﴿ That (Zaalika) is because (Bi'anna) GOD (Ellaha) is the TRUTH (10:32) (El' Haqqu) and (Wa) that HE (Annahu) revives (Yuh'yii) the dead (El'Maw'taa) and that HE (Annahu) is capable of (Qadiir Älaa) all (Kulli) things (Shai'in).
﴾ 7 ﴿ And (Wa) that (Anna) the Hour (Es'Saa'äta) is coming (Aatiyatun), there is no (Laa) doubt (Rai'ba) about it (Fiiha), and (Wa) that GOD (Annallaha) will resurrect (Yab'äthu) those (Man) in (Fii) the graves (El'Qubuur).
﴾ 8 ﴿ And (Wa) among (Mina) the people (En'Naasi) are those who (Man) argue (Yujaadilu) about GOD (Fiillahi) without (Bi-Gai'ri) knowledge 1 (il'min) nor (Walaa) guidance 2 (Hudan) nor (Walaa) an enlightening (Muniir) book 3 (Kitaabin), (31:20)
﴾ 9 ﴿ twisting (Thaaniya) his flank (Et'fi-hi) to (Li) turn away from (Yudilla Än) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi); for him (Lahu) is disgrace (Khiz'yu) in (Fii) the world (Ed'Dun'ya), and (Wa) We will make him taste (Nuziiqu-hu) the punishment (Äzaaba) of the Fire (El'Hariiq) on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati).
﴾ 10 ﴿ That (Zaalika) is for what (Bimaa) your hands (Yadaa-ka) have sent forth (Qaddamat’), and (Wa) that GOD (Annallaha) is never (Lai'sa Bi) unjust (Zollaamin) to the servants (Lil' Äbiid).
﴾ 11 ﴿ And (Wa) among (Mina) the people (En'Naasi) is one who (Man) worships GOD (Ya'budu-llaha) on (Älaa) an edge (Har'fin); thus (Fa) if (In') good (Khai'run) befalls him (Asoaba-hu), he is assured (Et'ma'anna) by it (Bihi), but (Wa) if (In') a trial (Fit'natun) befalls him (Asoabat'hu), he turns (Enqalaba) his face (Waj'hi-hi) about (-Älaa). He will lose (Khasira) the world (Ed'Dun'ya) and the hereafter (Wal' Aakhirati). That (Zaalika) is (Huwa) a clear (El'Mubiin) loss (El'Khus'raanu).
﴾ 12 ﴿ He invokes (Yad'u') besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi) what (Maa) does not (Laa) harm him (Yadurru-hu) and what (Wamaa) does not (Laa) benefit him (Yanfau-hu). That (Zaalika) is (Huwa) a distant (El'Baeed) error (Ed'Dolaalu).
﴾ 13 ﴿ He invokes (Yad'u') one whose (Laman) harm (-Dorru-hu) is nearer (Aq'rabu) than (Min) his benefit (Naf'e-hi); such (La) a wretched (Bi'sa) master (El'Maw'laa) and (Wa) such (La) a wretched (Bi'sa) company (El'Äshiir).
﴾ 14 ﴿ Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) will admit (Yud'khilu) those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu') and (Wa) do (Ämilu') good deeds (Es'Soalihaati) into gardens (Jannaatin) beneath which (Min Tah'ti-ha) rivers (An'haar) flow (Taj'rii). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) does (Yaf'älu) whatever (Maa) HE intends (Yuriid).
﴾ 15 ﴿ Whoever (Man Kaana) thinks (Yazunnu) that (An) GOD (Ellahu) will never (Lan) help him (Yansura-hu) in (Fii) the world (Ed'Dun'ya) and the hereafter (Wal' Aakhirati), then let (Fal') him stretch out (Yam'dud Bi) a rope (Sababin) to (ilaa) the sky (Es'Samaai), and let (Thummal') him cut off (Yaq'ta') and let (Fal') him see (Yanzur). Will (Hal') his scheme (Kai'du-hu) remove (Yuz'hibanna) what (Maa) irritates (Yagiiz)?
﴾ 16 ﴿ And (Wa) thus (Kazaalika) have We revealed its (Anzal'naa-hu) verses (Aayaati) as proofs (Bayyinaatin) so (Wa) that (Anna) GOD (Ellaha) may guide (Yah'dii) whomever (Man) HE intends (Yuriid).
﴾ 17 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), and (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) are Jewish (Haadu'), the Sabeans (Es'Soabi'iina), the Christians (En'Nasoaraa), the Magians (El'Majuusa), as well as (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) associate others (Ash'rakuu'); GOD will indeed (Innallaha) judge (Yaf'silu) between them (Bai'nahum) on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is a witness over (Shahiid Älaa) all (Kulli) things (Shai'in).
﴾ 18 ﴿ Do you not (Alam') see (Tara) that (Anna) to (Lahu) GOD (Ellahu) makes obeisance (Yas'judu) whoever (Man) is in (Fii) the heavens (Es'Samaawaati) and whoever (Waman) is on earth (Fiil' Ar'di), as well as (Wa) the sun (Es'Shamsu), the moon (El'Qamaru), the stars (En'Nujuumu), the mountains (El'Jibaalu), the trees (Es'Shajaru), the creatures (Ed'Dawaabbu), and (Wa) many (Kathiirun) among (Mina) the people (En'Naasi) while (Wa) the punishment (El'Äzaab) has been imposed on (Haqqa Älai'hi) many (Kathiirun)? But (Wa) whomever (Man) GOD humiliates (Yuhini-llahu), thus (Fa) he will have (Lahu) no (Maa Min) honour (Muk'rimin). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) does (Yaf'älu) what (Maa) HE wills (Yashaa').
﴾ 19 ﴿ These (Haazaani) are two adversaries (Khas'maani) quarrelling (Ekh'tasomu') about (Fii) their LORD (Rabbi-him). As for (Fa) those who (Ellaziina) disbelieved (Kafaru'), for them (Lahum) are garments (Thiyaabun) cut out (Qutti'ät) of (Min) fire (Naarin) and magma (El'Hamiim) pouring (Yusabbu) above (Min Faw'qi) their heads (Ru'uusi-himu),
﴾ 20 ﴿ by which (Bihi) whatever (Maa) is in (Fii) their bellies (Butuuni-him’) and the skins (Wal' Juluud) will be melted (Yus'haru).
﴾ 21 ﴿ And (Wa) they will have (Lahum) funnels (Maqaamiu) of (Min') iron (Hadiid).
﴾ 22 ﴿ Whenever (Kullamaa) they intend (Araaduu') to (An) get out of it (Yakh'ruju' Min'haa) from (Min') distress (Gammin), they will be returned (Ueedu') therein (Fiiha), and (Wa) they will taste (Zuuqu') the punishment (Äzaaba) of the Fire (El'Hariiq).
﴾ 23 ﴿ Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) will admit (Yud'khilu) those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu') and (Wa) do (Ämilu') good deeds (Es'Soalihaati) into gardens (Jannaatin) beneath which (Min Tah'ti-haa) rivers (El'An'haaru) flow (Taj'rii). They will be adorned (Yuhallaw'na) therein (Fiiha) with (Min') bracelets (Asaawira) of (Min) gold (Zahabin) and (Wa) pearls (Lu'luan), and their garments (Libaasu-hum) therein (Fiiha) will be silk (Hariir).
﴾ 24 ﴿ They were guided (Huduu') to (ilaa) good (Ettoyyibi) by (Mina) the word (El'Qaw'li), and (Wa) were guided (Huduu') to (ilaa) the path (Siraati) of the Praiseworthy (El'Hamiid).
﴾ 25 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) have disbelieved (Kafaru') and (Wa) repel (Yasudduuna) from (Än) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi) and the Sacred Mosque (El'Mas'jidil' Haraami), which (Ellazii) We have made (Jaäl'naa-hu) for mankind (Lin' Naasi); wherein (Fiihi) those abiding (El'Ääkifu) and the nomad (Wal' Baadi) are equal (Sawaa'an), and (Wa) whoever (Man) desires (Yurid' Bi) therein (Fiihi) apostasy (il'haadi) through (Bi) injustice (Zul'min); We will make him taste (Nuziq'hu) a painful (Aliim) punishment (Äzaabin).
﴾ 26 ﴿ And (Wa) when (Iz') We assigned (Bawwa'naa) the site (Makaana) of the House (El'Bai'ti) to (Li) Abraham (Ib'raahiima) that (An), "Do not (Laa) associate (Tush'rik) anything (Shai'an) with ME (Bii) and (Wa) purify (Tahhir') MY House (2:125) (Bai'tiya) for (Li) those who walk around (Toa'ifiina) and those who stand (El'Qaa'imiina) and (Wa) bow down (Er'Rukkae) in prostration (Es'Sujuud).
﴾ 27 ﴿ "And (Wa) announce (Azzin) among (to) (Fii) the people (En'Naasi) about (Bi) the Pilgrimage (El'Hajji)*; they will come to you (Abraham) (Ya'tuu-ka) by walking (Rijaalan) and (Wa) by (Älaa) every (Kulli) means (Doamirin), coming (Ya'tiina) from (Min) every (Kulli) deep (Ämiiq) road (Fajjin)
﴾ 28 ﴿ that (Li) they may witness (Yash'hadu') the benefits (Manaafiä) for themselves (Lahum) and (Wa) commemorate (Yaz'kuru') the name of GOD (Es'ma-llahi) during (Fii) the well-known (fixed) (Ma'luumaatin) days (Ayyaamin) over (Älaa) what (Maa) HE has provided for them (Razaqa-hum) of (Min) livestock (El'An'äämi) animals (Bahiimati); so (Fa) eat (Kulu') of them (Min'haa) and (Wa) feed (At'emu') those who are miserable (El'Baa’isa) and the needy (El'Faqiir).
﴾ 29 ﴿ "And let (Thummal') them conclude (Yaq'du') their quenching (Tafatha-hum) and let them (Wal') fulfil (Yuufu') their vows (Nuzuura-hum) and let them (Wal') walk around (Yattowwafu' Bi) the Ancient (El'Ätiiq) House (the Kaaba) (El'Bai'ti)."
﴾ 30 ﴿ That (Zaalika), and whoever (Waman) venerates (Yuäzzim) the inviolabilities of GOD (Hurumaati-llahi), then (Fa) it (Huwa) is better (Khai'run) for him (Lahu) at (Enda) his LORD (Rabbi-hi). And (Wa) lawful for you (Uhillat' Lakumu) are the livestock (El'An'äämu), except (illa) what (Maa) is recited (Yut'laa) to you (p) (Älai'kum). So (Fa) avoid (Ej'tanibu') the filth (Er'Rij'sa) of (Mina) idols (El'Aw'thaani) and (Wa) avoid (Ej'tanibu') the statement (Qaw'la) of falsehood (Ez'Zuur). (2:194)
﴾ 31 ﴿ Be true (98:5) (Hunafaa'a) to GOD (Lillahi), without (Gai'ra) associating others (Mush'rikiina) with HIM (Bihi). And (Wa) whoever (Man) associates others (Yush'rik) with GOD (Billahi), then (Fa) it is as if (Ka'annamaa) he had fallen (Kharra) from (Mina) the sky (Es'Samaai) and (Fa) the birds (Ettoi'ru) snatched him (Takh'tafu-hu) or (Aw') the wind (Er'Riihu) swoop him down (Tah'wii Bihi) into (Fii) a remote (Sahiiq) location (Makaanin).
﴾ 32 ﴿ That (Zaalika), and whoever (Waman) venerates (Yu'äzzim) the rituals of GOD (5:2) (Sha'ääira-llahi), then (Fa) indeed, it (Innaha) is from (Mina) the piousness (Taq'waa) of the hearts (El'Quluub).
﴾ 33 ﴿ For you (Lakum) are benefits (Manaafiu) in them (Fiihaa) for (ilaa) a fixed (Musammaa) term (Ajalin), then (Thumma) their location (Mahillu-haa) is at (ilaa) the Ancient (El'Ätiiq) House (El'Bai'ti).
﴾ 34 ﴿ And (Wa) for (Li) every (Kulli) nation (group of people) (Ummatin) We have made (Jaäl'naa) rite (22:67) (Mansakan) that (Li) they may commemorate (Yaz'kuru') the name of GOD (Es'ma-llahi) over (Älaa) what (Maa) HE has provided for them (Razaqa-hum) of (Min) livestock (El'An'äämi) animals (Bahiimati). Thus (Fa) your god (ilaahu-kum) is One (Waahidun) God (ilaahun), so (Fa) submit (As'limu') to HIM (Lahu); and (Wa) give good news to (Bas'shiri) those who are humble (El'Mukh'bitiin),

﴾ 36 ﴿ And (Wa) the livestock animals (6:143-144) (El'Bud'na) which We have made (Jaäl'naa-ha) for you (Lakum) are among (Min) the rituals of GOD (Sha'ääiri-llahi), there is good (Khai'r) in them (Fiiha) for you (Lakum). So (Fa) mention (Ez'kuru') the name of GOD (Es'ma-llahi) upon them (Älai'ha) in rows (Sowaaffa); and (Fa) when (Izaa) they have fallen (Wajabat') on their sides (Junuubu-haa), then (Fa) eat (Kulu') from them (Min'haa) and (Wa) feed (At'emu') those who are content (El'Qaaniä) and those who are miserable (Wal' Mu'tarra). Thus (Kaaalika) have We subjugated them (Sakkhar'naa-haa) for you (Lakum) perhaps you (Laällakum) will be thankful (Tash'kuruun).
﴾ 37 ﴿ GOD (Ellaha) never (Lan) attains (Yanaala) their meat (Luhuumu-haa) nor (Walaa) their blood (Dimaau-haa), but (Walaakin) HE attains (Yanaalu-hu) the piousness (Ettaq'waa) from you (Minkum). Thus (Kazaalika) has HE subjugated them (Sakkhara-haa) for you (Lakum) that (Li) you may magnify GOD (Tukabbiru'llaha) over (Älaa) what (Maa) HE has guided you (Hadaa-kum). So (Wa) give good news to (Bas'shiri) those who are benevolent (El'Muh'siniin).

And (Wa) if not for (Law' Laa) GOD propelling (Daf'u-llahi) the people (En'Naasa) against each other (Ba'da-hum Bi Ba'din); monasteries 1 (Sowaamiu), synagogues 2 (Biya’un), oratories 3 (Solawaatun) and mosques 4 (Masaajidu) wherein (Fiihaa) the name of GOD (Es'mu-llahi) is mentioned (Yuz'karu) frequently (Kathiiran) would have been (La) demolished (Huddimat). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) will (La) support (Yan'suranna) whoever (Man) supports HIM (Yansuru-hu). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is (La) Powerful (Qawiyyun) and Almighty (Äziiz).

﴾ 70 ﴿ Do you not (Lam') know (Ta'lam') that GOD (Annallaha) knows (Ya'lamu) whatever (Maa) is in (Fii) the heaven (Es'Samaai) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di)? Indeed (Inna), that (Zaalika) is in (Fii) a register (Kitaabin). Indeed (Inna), that (Zaalika) is easy (Yasiir) for GOD (Älaallahi).
﴾ 71 ﴿ And (Wa) they worship (Ya'buduuna) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi) what (Maa) HE has not (Lam') sent down (Yunazzil') any authority (Sul'toanan) for it (Bihi) and (Wa) what (Maa) they have (Lahum) no (Lai'sa) knowledge (il'mun) about (Bihi); and (Wa) the transgressors will have (Liz' Zoalimiina) no (Maa Min) helper (Nasiir).
﴾ 72 ﴿ And (Wa) when (Izaa) Our verses (Aayaatu-naa) are recited (Tut'laa) to them (Älai'him') as proofs (Bayyinaatin), you recognize (Tu'rifu) denial (El'Munkara) in (Fii) the faces (Wujuuhi) of those who (Ellazina) disbelieve (Kafaru'). They almost (Yakaaduuna) attack (Yas'tuuna Bi) those who (Ellaziina) recite (Yat'luuna) Our verses (Aayaati-naa) to them (Älai'him'). Say (Qul'): "Shall I then (Afa-) inform you (-unabbiu-kum) what is (Bi) worse (Sharrin) than (Min) that (Zaalikumu)? The Fire (En'Naaru) which (-haa) GOD (Ellahu) has promised (Äda-) those who (Ellaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru'), and (Wa) wretched (Bi'sa) is the destiny (El'Masiir)."
﴾ 73 ﴿ O you (Yaa Ayyuha) mankind (En'Naasu), an example (Mathalun) has been cited (Duriba), so (Fa) listen to it (Es'tamiu' Lahu). Indeed (Inna), those (Ellaziina) you invoke (Tad'uuna) besides GOD (Min Duuni-llahi) can never (Lan) create (Yakh'luqu') a fly (Zubaaban), even if (Walawi) they confer (Ej'tamau') for it (Lahu). And (Wa) if (In) the fly (Ez'Zubaabu) should steal (Yas'lub'humu) something (Shai'an), they could not (Laa) recover it (Yas'tanqizuu-hu) from it (Min'hu). Weak (Doufa) is the pursuer (Ettoalibu) and the pursued (Wal' Mat'luub).
﴾ 74 ﴿ They do not (Maa) value GOD (Qadaru'llaha) with HIS (-hi) true (Haqqa) value (Qad'ri-). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is (La) Powerful (Qawiyyun) and Almighty (Äziiz).
﴾ 75 ﴿ GOD (Ellahu) chooses (Yas'tafii) messengers (Rusulan) from (Mina) the Angels (El'Malaaikati) and (Wa) from (Mina) the people (En'Naasi). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is Hearing (Samiiu) and Seeing (Basiir).
﴾ 76 ﴿ HE knows (Ya'lamu) what (Maa) is before them (Bai'na Ai'dii-him') and what (Wamaa) is behind them (Khal'fa-hum). And (Wa) to GOD (ilaallahi) return (Tur'jau) all matters (El'Umuur).
﴾ 77 ﴿ O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), bow down 1 (Er'kau'), prostrate 2 (Es'judu') and (Wa) worship (E'budu') your LORD 3 (Rabba-kum'), and do (Ef'älu') good (El'Khai'ra); perhaps you (Laällakum') will succeed (Tuf'lihuun). (53:62)
﴾ 78 ﴿ And (Wa) strive (Jaahidu') for GOD (Fiillahi) with true (Haqqa) striving to HIM (Jihaadi-hi). HE (Huwa) has chosen you (p) (Ej'tabaa-kum') and has not (Maa) placed (Jaäla) any (Min') difficulty (Harajin) upon you (Älai'kum') in (Fii) the religion (5:3) (Ed'Diini), the Creed (Millata) of your ancestor (Abii-kum'), Abraham (Ib'raahiima); he (Huwa) named you (Sammaa-kumu) submitters (2:128) (El'Mus'limiina) before (Min Qab'lu), and (Wa) it is concerning (Fii) this (Haaza) that (Li) the Messenger (Er'Rasuulu) will be (Yakuuna) a witness (Shahiidan) over you (Älai'kum'), and (Wa) you may be (Takuunu') witnesses (Shuhadaa'a) over (Älaa) the people (En'Naasi). So (Fa) establish (Aqiimu') the Litany (Es'Solaata) and (Wa) give (Aatu') the Charity (Ez'Zakaata) and stick to GOD (E'tasimu' Bi-llahi); HE (Huwa) is your guardian (master) (Maw'laa-kum'), and (Fa) wonderful (Ni'ma) is the Guardian (El'Mawlaa) and (Wa) wonderful (Ni'ma) is the Helper (En'Nasiir).
