The Ladder

﴾ 1 ﴿ A questioner (Sa'ala) may ask (Saa'ilu) about (Bi) the actual (Waaqie) punishment (Äzaabin)
﴾ 2 ﴿ to the disbelievers (Lil' Kaafiriina); it has (Lahu) no (Lai'sa) repellent (Daafiu)
﴾ 3 ﴿ against GOD (Minallahi), Possessor (Zii) of the ladders (El'Ma'äärij)*.
﴾ 4 ﴿ The Angels (El'Malaa’ikatu) and (Wa) the Spirit (97:4) (Er'Ruuhu) will ascend (Ta'ruju) to HIM (ilai'hi) in (Fii) a period (Yaw'min) whose extent (Miq'daaru-hu) is (Kaana) fifty (Kham'siina) thousand (Al'fa) years (Sana’).
 ﴾ 5 ﴿ Therefore (Fa) be patient (Es'bir') with a beautiful (Jamiilaa) patience (Sob'ran).
﴾ 6 ﴿ Indeed, they (Innahum) see it (Yaraw'na-hu) faraway (Baeedaa),
﴾ 7 ﴿ but (Wa) We see it (Naraa-hu) near (Qariibaa).
﴾ 8 ﴿ The day (Yaw'ma) the sky (Es'Samaau) will be (Takuunu) like (Ka) molten brass (El'Muh'l),
﴾ 9 ﴿ and (Wa) the mountains (El'Jibaalu) will be (Takuunu) like (Ka) wool (El'Eh'n),
﴾ 10 ﴿ And (Wa) no (Laa) close friend (Hamiimun) will ask of (Yas'alu) a close friend (Hamiimaa).
﴾ 11 ﴿ They will be made to see each other (Yubassoruuna-hum’). The criminal (El'Muj'rimu) will wish (Yawaddu Law') he could ransom (Taf'tadii) with (Bi) his children (Banii-hi) from (Min') the punishment (Äzaabi) on that day (Yaw'maizi)
 ﴾ 12 ﴿ with (Wa) his mate (f) (Soahibati-hi) and his brother (Akhii-hi),
﴾ 13 ﴿ with (Wa) his family (Fasiilati-hi) who (Ellatii) sought him shelter (Tu'wii-hi),
﴾ 14 ﴿ with (Wa) those (Man) on earth (Fiil' Ar'di) all together (Jamiiän) and then (Thumma) he could be saved (Yunjii-hi).
﴾ 15 ﴿ Nay (Kallaa)! Indeed, it (Innaha) is a blazing fire (Lazoa),
 ﴾ 16 ﴿ leaning (Nazzaa'ätan) to roast (Lis’ Shawaa).
﴾ 17 ﴿ It invites (Tad'u') one who (Man') turned back (Ad'bara) and (Wa) turned way (Tawalla)
﴾ 18 ﴿ and (Wa) gathered (Jamaä) and (Fa) packed (Aw'ää).
 ﴾ 19 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), the human being (El' Insaana) is created (Khuliqa) anxious (Haluuää);
 ﴾ 20 ﴿ when (Izaa) evil (Es'Sharru) touches him (Massa-hu), restless (Jazuuää),
﴾ 21 ﴿ but (Wa) when (Izaa) good (El'Khai'ru) touches him (Massa-hu), he withholds (Manuuää),
 ﴾ 22 ﴿ except (illa) those who are prayerful (74:43) (El'Musolliin);
﴾ 23 ﴿ those (Hum') who (Ellaziina) are constant (Daa'imuun) in (Älaa) their litany (Solaati-him').
﴾ 24 ﴿ And (Wa) those (Ellaziina) in (Fii) whose wealth (Am'waali-him') is a known (Ma'luum) due (Haqqun)
﴾ 25 ﴿ for (Li) the beggar (Saaili) and the deprived (Wal' Mah'ruum), (51:19)
﴾ 26 ﴿ and (Wa) they (Ellaziina) believe (Yusaddiquuna) in (Bi) the Day of Judgement (Yaw'mi-d'Diin).
﴾ 27 ﴿ And (Wa) they (Hum') are those who (Ellaziina) are fearful (Mush'fiquun) of the punishment (Äzaabi) of their LORD (Rabbi-him).
﴾ 28 ﴿ Indeed (Inna), the punishment (Äzaaba) of their LORD (Rabbi-him') is not (Gai'ru) safe (Ma'muun).
﴾ 29 ﴿ And (Wa) they (Hum') are those who (Ellaziina) guard (Haafizuun Li) their private parts (Furuuji-him')
﴾ 30 ﴿ except (illa) for (Älaa) their spouses (wives) (Az'waaji-him') or (Aw') those (Maa) their right hands (Ai'maanu-hum') possess (Malakat'), then (Fa) indeed, they (Innahum') are not (Gai'ru) to be blamed (Maluumiin); (23:5 - 23:6)
﴾ 31 ﴿ but (Fa) whoever (Mani) desires (Eb'tagaa) beyond (Waraa'a) that (Zaalika) then (Fa) they (Humu) are those (U'laaika) who are the trespassers (El'Ääduun). (23:7)
﴾ 32 ﴿ And (Wa) they (the worshippers) (Hum') are those who (Ellaziina) pay attention to (Raa'uun Li) their loyalties (Amaanaati-him') and their agreement (Äh'di-him'). (23:8)
﴾ 33 ﴿ And (Wa) they (Hum) are those who (Ellaziina) are upright (Qaaimuun) in (Bi) their testimonies (Shahaadaati-him).
﴾ 34 ﴿ And (Wa) they (Hum') are those who (Ellaziina) observe (Yuhaafizuun Älaa) their litany (Solaati-him').
﴾ 35 ﴿ Those (U'laaika) will be in (Fii) honourable (Muk'ramuun) gardens (Jannaatin).
﴾ 36 ﴿ So (Fa) why (Maali) are those who (Ellaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru'), craning their necks (Muh'ti'een) toward you (s) (Qibala-ka),
﴾ 37 ﴿ from (Äni) the right (El'Yamiini) and (Wa) from (Äni) the left (Es'Shimaali) to find fault (Eziin)?
﴾ 38 ﴿ Does (A-) every (Kullu) person (Em'ri'in) among them (Min'hum') hope (-yat'mau) to (An) enter (Yud'khala) a garden (Jannata) of bliss (Naeem)?
﴾ 39 ﴿ Nay (Kallaa)! Indeed (Innaa), We created them (Khalaq'naa-hum) from what (Mimmaa) they know (Ya'lamuun). (32:7-9)
﴾ 40 ﴿ So (Fa) I swear (Laa' Uq'simu) by (Bi) the LORD (Rabbi) of the eastern areas (El'Mashaariqi) and the western areas (Wal' Magaaribi) that We (Innaa) are (La) able (Qaadiruun)
﴾ 41 ﴿ to (Älaa) replace with (Nubaddila) better (Khai'ran) than them (Min'hum'), and (Wa) We (Nah'nu) cannot (Maa Bi) be outdone (Mas'buuqiin).
 ﴾ 42 ﴿ So (Fa) leave them (Zar'hum') waging (Yakhuudu') and (Wa) playing (Yal'äbu') until (Hattaa) they meet (Yulaaqu') their day (Yaw'ma-humu) which (Ellazii) they are promised (Yuuäduun);
﴾ 43 ﴿ the day (Yaw'ma) they will emerge (Yakh'rujuuna) from (Mina) the tombs (El'Ah'daathi) quickly (Siraa'än) as if they (Ka'anna-hum') were rushing (Yuufiduun) to (ilaa) a monument (Nusubin).
﴾ 44 ﴿ Their eyesight (Ab'soaru-hum') will be humbled (Khaashiätan), shame (Zillatun) will overcome them (Tar'haqu-hum'). That (Zaalika) is the day (El'Yaw'mu) which (Ellazii) they had been (Kaanu') promised (Yuuäduun).
